Dr. Polk E. Akers, Founder of Cal-Lab
Founded in 1926, the Cal-Lab Association is the oldest dental laboratory organization in continuous existence. It began as the Certified Akers Laboratories — hence the name Cal — and today functions solely for the benefit of its members, without obligation to promote any specific product, technique or special interest.
Cal-Lab is an independent, international association of dental laboratories, with a growing membership of more than 200 labs. It is governed by an elected board of laboratory owners and managers, and is best known for its Annual Meeting — two days of closed-door owner forums, keynotes and candid peer exchange that members describe as the most useful room they enter all year.
